Argentine Tango Classes
Regular classes organized by Garua Association:
Learning tango, mastering the walk, embrace and figures, is the best way to start loving and enjoying this dance. That is why Garua has always committed to organizing quality classes, allowing all members to enjoy lessons taught by professional instructors. This year we are launching a new format: classes will be taught by Alejandro Arroyo and Bakartxo Arabaolaza; Joseba Pagola and Marina Alcalde; and Roque Castellano and Giselle Gatika.
Teachers: Alejandro Arroyo and Bakartxo Arabaolaza
Alejandro Arroyo is a dancer with more than eighteen years of experience. Trained in Venezuela, he later worked with well-known figures in the tango world such as Chicho Frumboli, Noelia Hurtado, Horacio Godoy and Natasha Lewinger. He has been a finalist in several editions of the Tango Stage World Championship. His training in Butoh dance and urban dance styles has helped him develop a style based on body awareness and movement applied to dance.
Bakartxo Arabaolaza combines body sensitivity with extensive experience as a tango teacher, having given classes in the Basque Country for more than 20 years. Her approach, based on body awareness, and her constant drive to improve have led her to continue her training and refine her style.
Teachers: Joseba Pagola and Marina Alcalde
Both are widely recognized in the tango world. Joseba Pagola, a dancer, teacher and DJ, has extensive teaching experience and is a well-known reference in this field. He began his training in Argentina, and the clear, methodical structure of his classes is valued by many of his students. Marina Alcalde, a dancer and finalist in several editions of the Buenos Aires Tango World Championship, has built a career in the tango world and is recognized for the quality and beauty of her dancing, shaped by her focus on feminine technique.
Teachers: Roque Castellano and Giselle Gatika
This year, Roque and Giselle's classes will focus on Vals, a style that is very popular among tango dancers but sometimes overlooked in regular classes. Their original training in Argentine folklore has given them a special sensitivity that, combined with their technical work, has made them quality teachers.
Tango classes will be taught by Alejandro and Bakartxo -during the first four-month term- and by Joseba and Marina -during the second four-month term. Vals classes will be taught by Roque and Giselle once a month. All classes take place at Calle Cristo 20, basement, Bilbao.
Day: Friday.
Schedule and levels: Four levels: beginner, intermediate 1, intermediate 2 and advanced, at 18:00, 19:05, 20:10 and 21:15 respectively.
